Fishing is available all year round on Hatherton Lake (subject to relevant fishing season restrictions) and day permits are available to purchase on the bank. Seasonal permits are also available in some circumstances.

On the arboretum lake, visitors can hire a boat or a pedalo and take to the water to explore the far corners of the lake and identify the variety of birdlife on display.
